Colleen Larson

Colleen Larson, age 86, was called home to heaven on January 15, 2014. She was the youngest of nine children born to John and Mary Grace Bush in 1927 in Plattsburg, Missouri. She had four brothers and four sisters. She attended North Kansas City High School and graduated in 1945. She married John Larson in 1947 and they enjoyed 47 years together until his death in 1994. She worked in accounting at The Kansas City Star for 17 years and retired from there in 1985. She had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. She was a strong woman of faith who loved reading and studying her Bible. For many years she attended church at Armour Heights Baptist and later Santa Fe Hills Baptist. She was a talented seamstress and made many quilts that she donated to nursing homes. Colleen was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her three children: Janice Smith and husband Gary; Joyce Howard and husband Gary; and Mark Larson and wife Wendy. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
