Today was not a good day. Hell, there have been a scant few this year. You are sorely missed. It is not getting easier and I admit I'm struggling. Your constant presence I miss. There was so much I wanted to teach you. So much I needed you here for. 

Holidays are bad. We skipped Easter essentially. You hiding Easter eggs with me is a memory I'll cherish. 

July 4th we basically struggled through. Blythe loves the fireworks just as you and I did. You not there to light them was hard. You and I giggling is a sound I will always cherish. 

Fast forward to Thanksgiving. We've moved but your absence is no less painful. We would often talk about the mundane or silly gaming stuff while taking turns basting the Turkey like masters. The really dumb joke still gets me to grin. We had a pretty full house but you coming home and enjoying second Thanksgiving was missed. Hardly anyone ate the greenbean casserole. You are missed, and saving that part if the meal was on everyone's mind. 

This last weekend was the hardest. I was playing a new game on Xbox, honestly the first large swath of time wasted since we moved. It turned out there was a lot of platforming. I almost had to stop. Normally this would have been a spot where you helped the old man. I nearly broke down when it dawned on me. Its those moments when your selfless helping shined. Those I cherish most of all. 

I miss you Manchild. Most of the time I can keep it together. This last weekend thru this week I'm not excelling.

Thank you for everything Cody. Thank you for the long talks, advice, beating common sense to me, driving me places (even though it scared me to death the whole ride), being my childhood bestfriend unconditionally, being there when I had nightmares, taking that dumb picture with me when I thought that boat was a tub, being there for me when no one else was. 
Thank you for the memories I'm left with of us playing war at Grandma Bonnie's old house with Lucy and those bags filled with leaves every autumn, spotting Cardinals at Grandma and Grandpa Valverde's when they watched us in GV, being there on all of my first day of school, my first day of both of my jobs, getting me from band practices, talking to Sadie and I that one night before a band comp while you were playing on the computer, being there for me when mom and my dad split, finding out I was pregnant with RJ at 16.
Thank you for being that goof we all came to know and love. Thank you for everything you did for mom, Shaun, Jan, Ken, Maya, Blythe, Justina, your niece and nephews (that you got to meet), Val, and ALL the animals we have ever had, your friends and co-workers, and myself. 
You'll always be 4.5 years older than me, be the bossy older brother, scary fast driver, gamer, geek, athletic, uncle/brother/son/grandson/friend/co-worker that had a contagious laugh and smile, and soul that lit up a room when you walked in.
You've been missed and you will continue to be missed big brother.
If only heaven wasnt so far away...

I knew Cody online as he was part of my clan for many years. (1st Royal Dragoons).  Though we never met in ordinary life, I can say that he was one of the most positive players I ever met, and we ran around the battle fields of Verdun like brothers. He was a very talented player and I never heard one single negative thought come from him.

I have been away from games for quite a while, and I did not hear about  Cody's passing until now, but I had to come to his memorial online right away and give my most heart felt condolences to his family and friends, co-workers. It is quite clear to me that many loved him and I am honored that I had the honor of knowing Cody. May he rest in peace for all eternity with the Lord and angels.

I've known Cody since 7th grade meeting him for the first time in homeroom because i was drawing a creeper. We lost touch in HS but he was always a friend to me, i remember thinking that we were gonna be youtubers like the Yogscast we even had our own name "Kill The Creeper"  but alas. you were a great friend and you'll be missed

I knew Cody online. He was in my gaming clan for years, we played together during multiple tournaments in 2017. He always brought a smile to everyone in any situation. He was a great person and a great friend. RIP Chirpy.

We are grateful for all the memories we have of you and all the family dinners and holidays.  I will always remember your smiley and happy face coming through the door with your beloved grandparents who so adored you.  And what a great example and how proud for your family to have you be a Young Marine.  Cody you are loved and you will be missed.  John, Angela, and Austin.  

Cody, Larry and I so enjoyed watching you grow up.  We remember when you were just a cute little freckled faced boy.  Grandma and grandpa bought you a little race track with little hot wheels.  You loved it so much, you would not even look up at anyone.  We tried to get you to look up, but all your attention was on that race track. We laughed so hard!  You grew up to be a sweet, handsome young man and made everyone so proud. You know you were Grandpa Ken’s “best bud” and Grandma Jan’s “ pride and joy”.  They loved you so much and were so proud of you.  We will miss you sweet Cody.

Cody Land, you were my work partner on the weekend, we would work 36-48 hours together, on call! You always hustled to calls and we’re always professional! I remember the one time a front drive axle fell right out of the work van, when you did a U-Turn and every one blamed it on you but you knew we were always joking around! I remember when we would work some of the nastiest calls together, in the woods or in a building with no power, where the floors were falling in. No matter the situation, you would hustle and make it worth it, even if it was an hour away!!

Right after my first year of college, when I came home for the summer, we had a bonfire at the lake. I didn't want to go at first, but eventually, Aly convinced me it would be fun. The lake was freezing at night, but you and the boys ran straight in, and we all followed. I was so scared of the water, I didn't want to go too deep. 

You picked me up and just chucked me as far as you could, and I remember just shrieking until I hit the water. And then I popped up, laughing, and asked you to do it again. Those summer bonfires are still some of my best memories from that year. I wish we had had a chance to do another and had been better at staying in touch.

We miss you Cody, so much more than you will ever get to know. 

From some of the scariest rides I’ve ever taken to some of my least stressful work-nights; I knew if we were working together you would meet me there and nine times out of ten you would beat me there! About 2 years of working together and you never said my name right. It’s something we all found funny.  You are one of a kind Cody! Rest well 

I’m so glad I was fortunate enough to know you, watch you graduate from JLS and Young Marines, thank you for being a leader to my son and many other Young Marines, you will be missed. 

When Chase and I came to see you at Young Marines and Chase only wanted to join if he could be with you. You were so excited and talked 100 miles per hour about what you had done and the trips you were going to take and the excitement from you was off the charts. You were always a fast talker when it was something you loved. Second best memory was 4 years ago when you and Chase were my date for Valentines Day on the Plaza.  Staying up late and watching Band of Brothers for like the 4th time. You trying to teach me origami (spelling) you and Shaun helping me pass College Algebra so I could finally get my degree, and I did! You and Chase laughing in the car until you cried.  You trying to set my costume on fire and always saving me from that damn dog “VALENTINE!” Sorry Michelle. Letting you set off one of my big fireworks on 4th of July. Helping me mop the floors at your grandmas house. Teaching you and Chase how to play pool and you using your hands. LOL  The excitement of your face every time we met at The Landing to exchange one of you for an over night. You pushing your mom in your stroller at 24 months old. So stubborn! Wish we could have made more. I will miss you Cody.
