Clay A. Morgan, Jr., a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother-so many wonderful things to so many-passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at age 79. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife of 60 years, Anna Marie, and their four children Dan (wife Mindy), Celia (husband Dennis), Dana, and Clay (wife Anissa), along with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. To his family, he was a hero and role model for the most important thing in the world: How to love another person.
He began dating Anna Marie during their Senior year of high school at Lillis in Kansas City, and the two were inseparable for a lifetime. Through that everlasting bond, he taught the world around him how to love fully and unconditionally. He loved his family fiercely and never let a day pass without saying "I love you."
Clay's incredible humor, bright personality and indelible smile will be missed by those lucky enough to have known him, albeit never forgotten.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on June 7, 1937 to Clay Sr. and Goldie Morgan, the second of six boys. Yes, six boys.
He was an avid fisherman, a dedicated Kansas City sports fan, and a faithful leader in the St. Augustine Catholic Parish for many years. For much of his life, he woke at 3 a.m. for a full day's work delivering gasoline to area fuel stations.
He loved traveling throughout the country with Anna Marie, and never stopped short of trying something new. His experiments included homemade toothpaste, pear wine using Anna Marie's pantyhose, and a very unique clam chowder that he proudly brought to family potlucks. His love of ice cream was exceeded only by his love for his family. He attended every birthday party, graduation, baptism, grandparent day, play, school program and little league championship possible--always bringing a tight hug and a kiss on the lips.
Dad, Grandpa, Paw Paw, Clay, we will miss you with all our hearts, but we will never forget the impact you've had on us. We are better people because of your example. Thank you, we love you.
