Tommy is survived by his mother Mary, son Zach (April), bonus son Mike, grandson Jacob, and brothers Stephen (Rosanna) and Todd, sisters Sally and Susan.
Tommy was a fantastic father/grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved meeting strangers and striking up a conversation trading stories. Tommy always found a friend to chat with no matter the situation or place. He was always gracious, courteous, and respectful. He was known for his willingness to help a friend or stranger anytime. Tommy graduated from Center High School in Kansas City and served in the Army reserves during the Vietnam conflict. He then worked in his family concrete business (Stafford Concrete Construction) until 2015 when he retired.
He loved hunting, fishing, family, friends, telling a good story, spreading the gospel and great sci-fi movies. In 1977, when Star Wars came out, Tommy took Zach to Crest Drive Inn to see Star Wars 26 times. If Star Wars , Doctor Who, or Star Trek were on, you can bet he was watching.
Someone like Tommy is rare to find. One that’s so generous, smart, and kind. A friend like Tommy is what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds. Nothing can replace a father, grandfather, friend, son, or brother like him, but when he gets to heaven, God will be lucky to have him, too.
"He will forever be my Superman, my hero, my movie buddy, and the one I look to for answers.
I love you dad!"
A graveside committal for Tommy will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
