Charles P. Hensley, 74, a resident of Gladstone, MO lost his battle with Parkinson’s Thursday, July 20, 2017. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at his home. A memorial service will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 26th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel with visitation beginning at 6:00 PM.
Charles was born December 22, 1942 to Pittman and Sophia (Wilson) Hensley in Pineville, Kentucky. He was united in marriage to Ann Slusher on August 5, 1963. Charles worked for the EPA for 35 years while living in Kansas City, Missouri where he and Ann raised their family. He and his wife traveled for two years after retirement before settling in Ocala, Florida. Charles and Ann moved back to the Kansas City area in December of 2012. He was also a HAM radio operator for over 45 years. He taught classes on HAM radio, assisted with testing and most of all he worked with local officials on disaster plans involving HAMS. Charles was a man of few words, who always offered the most sound advice or a good laugh.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ann Hensley; sister Mary Ruth Coign (Scott); brothers, Jerry Hensley (Darcy), James Hensley; daughters, Jill Bailey (David), Andrea Zinselmeyer (Steve); sons, Gary Hensley (Neva), Scott Hensley (Jill); grandchildren, Stephanie Hart, Joshua Hart (Amanda), Garrett Hensley (Shayna), Caitlin Hensley, Tanner Hensley, Bentley Zinselmeyer, Emma Hensley, and Macklin Zinselmeyer; great grandchildren, Juliann Jones and Calonzo Edwards; numerous nephews, nieces and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pittman and Sophia Hensley; his sister Betty Ann Middleton.
