Celia A. Martinez, 60 was born June 12, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas went home to be with her heavenly Father on October 9, 2023. Celia was the first of six children born to Albert Martinez Sr. and Herminia Ortiz (Martinez).
Our mother graduated high school and then she furthered her education by obtaining an associate degree in Computer Programming. Our mother worked for a car dealership doing office work for many years. Her oldest son joined her and they worked together for years there. She decided to make a career change so she went to work for a cable company doing installation and stayed there for 10 years. After that she went on to install satellite for sometime. This allowed her to spend more time with her kids. She later joined her daughter and began a career with an insurance company they enjoyed many years working together. Our mother went on to join her youngest son working at a bakery, and then worked for a convention center doing big events in KC. After doing that she decided to venture out on a different career path. Our mother went on to work for her current employer Broadridge Financial Solutions, where she started out as a Fulfillment Clerk and was later promoted to Sr. Fulfillment Clerk. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. Throughout her work career she spent time working with all her children.
Our mother loved spending time with her family especially her three children she called her precious babies. She had a love for crossword puzzles and anything that challenged her. She loved to travel back to Texas to visit her aunts, uncle, and grandmother. Our mother always had a big, beautiful smile on her face and had such an infectious laugh that when you heard it, it would make you laugh. She was not only our mother, she was the shoulder we leaned on in hard times, she was the voice of reason, she was our best friend. Our mother always had the right words, just enough kisses and hugs to make everything better.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert Martinez Sr, nephew Michael Martinez, niece Ashley Martinez, Grandmother Adela Perez, Aunt Pat Gil. Celia is survived by her 3 precious angels, Fernando Martinez, Enrique Medina, and daughter Yolanda Martinez Arzola, her mother Herminia (Ruben) Ortiz, 4 brothers Albert Martinez Jr, Robert (Lina) Martinez, Alejandro (Sandra) Martinez, Jessie Martinez, and sister Sandra (Robert) Day. Aunts and other relatives on her fathers side, her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
To our precious mother the loss of you has broken our hearts and devastated us. It’s so hard to think about life without you by our side cheering us on, seeing your big beautiful smile, and hearing you laugh. We are so proud and honored to call you our mother. We know when we come home you’ll be waiting front and center to kiss our foreheads and say my babies are home! We love you and miss you so much!
Visitation for our beloved mother will be October 15, 2023 from 5 to 8pm at Drexel Hall 3301 Baltimore Ave. Kansas City, MO 64111.
