

Carol Ann Hanlon, of Lee’s Summit, MO, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born on July 29, 1938 in St. Louis, MO. She attended Visitation Academy and Webster College. She raised her three daughters in Palos Verdes Estates, CA, where she lived for 20 years. Later she received her Masters Degree from the University of Hawaii, and worked as a children’s librarian in Honolulu for three years. Carol moved to Overland Park in 1993 to be closer to family. She was employed by the KCK Public Library system where she touched many lives through her outreach and compassion. Her true joys in life were spending time with her family, including her six grandchildren and her long time companion, Roger Thompson. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and loved living at Raintree Lake.
Carol leaves behind a legacy of compassion, optimism, a zest for life and a love of her Catholic faith. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Carol is survived by daughters; Cathy Marino (Kevin) of Plano, TX; Christy Renner (Tom) of Overland Park, KS; Betsy Hanlon of Kansas City, MO; and her beloved grandchildren, Julie, Jimmy, Mary Marino, Shannon, Caroline, and Kyle Renner.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at KC Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Carol during her time there.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 11th, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW 150 Hwy., Lee’s Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research @ www.jimmyv.org.
