Lucy and Margaret, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm very late but only just saw this. Hope all is well for both of you.

It has been a year since I lost my best friend, I will never have another "brother"  that has been as such an influence in my life.

My dad, the strongest man I knew. I love you and will miss you. I'll cherish our times and the memories. I'll remember fishing at the lake and you being excited for me when I'd show you the little bluegill I'd caught, playing airplane, sitting on the couch together watching football, though at 5, I had about 5 minutes of attention before running off to play. How whenever I showed you my artwork, you'd always say "That's neat, Missy." And when I built the little model jet you gave me and glued it all together wrong, you still told me I did good. You'll always be in my heart, dad, and when I look in the mirror, I'll see a part of you looking back at me. Dad, I love you.


Carlos always showed kindness and respect to anyone that entered his life.  He will be missed immensely.   My deepest condolences to the Padilla family.  

I've never been one to talk about my feelings,  but when somebody has such an impact on your life,  you feel compelled.
I went to work for Carlos when I was 13,  no experience,  and not even sure what life was about. As i was learning a career, I didn't even realize I was being shaped into a young man. The lessons where coming at me indiscreetly. Is this a job your proud to say you did? "Even if it doesn't run, it should look good on the side of the road." "If your gonna do it do it right." when I would make a mistake, there wasn't yelling, it was  what happened? He would show me where I went wrong and how to do it correct.  "If your not making mistakes your not trying."Things weren't always easy when he was knocked down, witch wasn't often, he would take a step forward not looking back but continuing to climb, knowing that with effort he would make it further than before.
The attitude was always positive it didn't seem to matter if things were weighing heavy on him. He always put it aside and got the job done with a smile and a laugh. Don't get me wrong I did see him upset or angry, but it was only when it affected his family. His family was the most important thing to him that I noticed, his stories were always very animated,you could tell they were his life. His smile and how he would puff out his chest, you knew he was proud. 
I have so many stories about my friend and mentor that I could write a book , although I'm  not a writer.
I will say that the experience knowing this man taught me many things.  Integrity, persistence, pride, love, honor and so much more.
Carlos it was a privilege to know you, and an honor to be your friend.
You are truly missed.
