Carl (Tic) Lickteig Sr., Age 70, passed away Wednesday August 18, 2010 at home with his family by his side. Mass of Christian burial will be 1pm, Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9:30pm Friday, August 20th at the church, 11822 Holmes Road KC, MO 64131.
Carl was born in Garnett, KS to Carl J. and Eleanor (Strobel) Lickteig on Nov 16th, 1939. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marjorie Henning.
Carl was an Eagle Scout who graduated from De La Salle Military Academy and St. Benedicts College. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves, a past member/president of Hillcrest Country Club, and several other organizations. He retired from First Federal Bank after 40 years of service as senior vice president, in addition to being a National Director of the Savings and Loan Institute.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mickey (Dalton); sons, Glenn (Amy), Paul (Debbie), Michael, Carl Jr.(Stephanie); and 4 grandchildren whom he took great pride and joy in (Maximilian, Grace, Mitchell, Samantha); a sister, Mary Vernassie; and numerous other family members throughout the KC area.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the KC Catholic Diocese F.I.R.E. program, and KC Hospice. The family wishes to thank Drs. Johnson, Morgan, and Gupta-Burt along with Lori Kemper and her staff at KC Hospice for all of their care and support.
As we mourn the loss of this amazing man, we take comfort in knowing he is in heaven with Jesus where there is no pain or cancer. We love you.
