The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, January 25th , with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church; entombment will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
Bruce was born April 6, 1937 in Dumaguete, Philippines to Felix and Luisa (Sedigo) Calumpong. He graduated from St. Paul’s University in Dumaguete in 1961 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. Bruce often told stories of scrubbing the wooden floors with coconut mops to pay for his education. Before immigrating to the United States, Bruce spent some time serving in the military and later working as an accountant for Ford Motor Company. After arriving in the United States, he worked pumping gasoline until he got a job with Lee Jeans and not long after that with Folgers Coffee as a quality control manager. He retired from Folgers in 1998 and worked part-time at Hy-Vee, Walmart and Home Depot. Bruce had a love for all things related to Martial Arts. He taught Kung Fu and Aikido. He loved target shooting.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Berlita Calumpong; sons, Rico Calumpong, Bernard (Tanya) Calumpong, Chris (Kathy) Calumpong, and Joel Calumpong; sister, Monina Lacson; sister-in-law, Edna Calumpong; brother, Pete (Shirley) Calumpong; grandchildren, Jessica, Kristina, Sydney, Erishyll, Christopher, Patrick and Brix; and 3 great grandchildren, Marcus, Charlie, and Xander.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ike Calumpong, and sons, Edgar Calumpong and Chester Calumpong.
