Brian C. Petrie

Brian C. Petrie, 28, Overland Park, KS, born in a blizzard on February 9, 1982, died on May 11, 2010, at St. Joseph Medical Center. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Kathy (Holmes) Petrie and older brother, Jeff, all of the home. He is also survived by his grandparents, Jerry and Jeanne Holmes, and Jack Petrie, all of Kansas City, MO, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bobbie Petrie, uncle, Bill Petrie, cousin, Bill Archer, and his faithful service dog, Hailey.

Brian graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 2000, received an associate of arts degree from JCCC, and had nearly completed work on a bachelors degree at UMKC. A trivia buff extraordinaire, Brian helped his team win the Bishop Sullivan Center trivia contest a record five times. He was also an avid music fan, and a loyal fan of the Chiefs.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 14, 10:00 a.m., also at the church, followed by burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Brian's memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3 Corporate Woods, 8700 Indian Crk.
