Brenda Sue Aylward died on June 27, 2018 of lung complications after fighting a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Moline, IL and attended the University of Illinois where she studied Interior Design. Brenda moved to Kansas City in 1959 and worked as an airline stewardess for TWA for several years until she married Brent Stonebraker in 1963. She then opened Brenda’s Gift Cupboard where she sold gift collectibles. Brenda enjoyed a long successful career as an Interior Designer in the Kansas City area. She married William Robert (Bob) Aylward in 2011. In 2016, she opened Posh Party Event Venue, an upscale event space located in Prairie Village, with her daughter, Darci.
Brenda was known for her creative design talent, her sense of humor, helpfulness to others, determination, and her beauty. Bob and Brenda were famous for their elaborate parties that demonstrated her creative talent in themed parties, benefiting many charitable causes. She had a knack for decorating on a budget and taught her craft to others.
She is survived by her sisters, Gail Gleason Perry, and Cynthia Gleason Smethers, son Todd and his wife Zoe Stonebraker and their children Kerry, Brady and Dylan, and daughter Darci Stonebraker. Brenda will be greatly missed, but she certainly left the world a more beautiful place.
Memorial services will be held September 22 at 11:00 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
