Bonnie Sue Roeder was the second child and daughter of Adam Alonzo and Ila Marie (Helms) Robson born July 2, 1935 in Yellville, Arkansas. She was 78 years, 11 months at the time of her passing on June 23, 2014. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
She started school at the age of four years old attending Georgia Creek Elementary School in Marion County, Arkansas. When the school burned down, she was transferred to Snow School which is close to Georgia Creek, Arkansas. She grew up on a farm there, until she was nine years old. The family moved to Yates Center, Kansas where she attended sixth grade in the fall. She attended Yates Center Methodist Church and was baptized at the age of ten years old by Reverend Dewey. Bonnie Sue graduated from Yates Center High School in May 1952 at the age of 17 years old, She was a majorette in the high school band for four years, which she enjoyed very much. She went to Kansas City to attend the Kansas City Secretarial School in August to September 1952. After secretarial school, she started working at the Western Auto Home Office on Grand Ave. in October 1952. Bonnie started working at the Internal Revenue Service in October of 1976 where she worked for 30 years, retiring on October 31, 2006.
On March 12, 1956, she married Robert E. McKinney Sr. She continued working at Western Auto until September 1957 as she was pregnant with their first child, Sharon Sue, who was born November 7, 1957. Bonnie Sue remained a stay-at-home mom when their second child, Robert Jr., was born on July 4, 1961. They divorced in March 1980 after 24 years of marriage.
She transferred her church membership to the Terrace Lake United Methodist Church in 1970. Bonnie Sue also attended the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church for several years where she had planned to join before her passing.
On September 2, 1983, Bonnie Sue married Dennis A. Roeder in Las Vegas, Nevada at The Candle Light Chapel. They were married 30 wonderful years and 9 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Sharon K. and Samuel D. Robson, brother-in-law Carl Reed, and grandson Jeremy Conny. Bonnie Sue is survived by her husband Dennis A. Roeder, father of her children Robert E. McKinney, Sr., her children Sharon Sue McKinney and Robert “Rob” Edwin McKinney, Jr.; siblings Nettie Lou (Lee) Crouch, Peggy Marie Reed, Adam Alonzo “Keith” Robson, Carolyn June Crupper, Norma Jean (Norman) Kasper, stepdaughters Renita Renee (Simone) Conny and Ralinda RaAnn (Lee) Parsons, her grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
