So sorry to hear Bobby passed. I bought my first Labrador from Bobby in 1988.  I was helping Cotton Pershall train Labradors when Bobby was writing the book “ Training Retrievers The Cotton Pershall Method.  
Cotton had a lot of respect for Bobby, as did I.

I played with Bobby at SMSU in the 70's. He will be remembered as a great athlete, and leader.

So sad to hear about the passing of Bobby.  I was younger but played with Bobby at SMSU.  He was a role model and friend.  He will be missed by the Bears Family.

Sorry to hear about Bobby as I now live in Florida and just came across information about his untimely death.  I knew Bobby from East School as classmates.  Rode the same school bus route together each day and was cub scouts together that his mother taught us at their house.  Proud to be a part of the undefeated 5th and 6th grade football teams that Bobby was our quarterback leader.  Moved away after grade school and last time I was able to see him again was at Boys State in 1968.   Bobby set the standard when it came to who you wanted to become in life and he made a huge impact on my life early on.  Rest in peace Bobby.

To Johnny and his dad,  and family.  Susie Stanford, here.  I was so sorry to hear of you losing Bobby, your sweet brother and son.  I remember his quiet, gentlemanly humbleness in high school.  What a special person he was.  He knew labs were special dogs.  I was raised with them and have hardly ever been without one for any length of time.  I'm guessing Bobby will run into my dad, Jack, (who also loved labs) as they roam those Elysian Fields and marshes together with man's best friends.

I met Bobby more than 30 years ago when I was just a kid. He became a very cherished brother-in-law. Chapin was born one week before my high school graduation, and he and my sister made the trip from Jeff City to be there. I'll never forget that-it meant so much to me that they would drive all that way with a newborn to watch me walk across the stage. As the years rolled on, Bobby became Bob-up-and-down to me. I can't remember how that got started, but he laughed every time I said it. I have great memories of Bobby and his passion for cooking. His laughter was contagious, making my mother laugh while cooking in her "one butt" kitchen. I was so excited to introduce my duck-hunter husband to Bobby at Chapin's wedding. I knew they would have plenty to talk about. While we all lived in Missouri, it took going to Virginia to connect the two hunters who both shared the love of the Labrador.  Lance has read his dog training book and passed it on to his son. My heart aches for Chapin and the rest of the family.  Gone too soon.

    I met Bobby in April, 2017 at Wooddale Farms in Sedalia, Mo. where he was the resident retriever trainer.  Bobby had just returned from the Texas winter trip.   I had been training with a group of amateur retriever owners for a couple of weeks when they volunteered to throw birds for Bobby until his regular helper could come back to work.  
     He knew  the other guys, so I shook hands and introduced myself.  He asked me about my dog and made small talk for a minute, then he asked me what kind of owner I was.  He explained that there were three types of owners; ones that know nothing, ones that  think they know it all and ones that know they'll never know it all.
     I laughed and told him I'd only been training with these guys a couple of weeks and didn't know anything.  We helped him out for the week and had a bunch of fun training with him.  At the end of the week,  I asked him if he would be interested in training Zeke.  His truck was full, but he thought I was fun and Zeke had talent so he suggested we just keep doing what we were doing.  So we did for three and half years and became friends.  During our long training days, we discovered that we had competed in football and baseball against each other in high school.  Continuing that rivalry was always fun too.  That summer he learned he had cancer and started treatments.
     I went to winter training in Texas with him his last two trips.  Every three weeks, we had to make a 14 hour one way car trip to KC and back for chemo treatments the first year.  We learned a lot about each other.

      Bobby George was the gold standard as a dog trainer, mentor, person and friend.  I often think of the countless training days and endless fun during our too brief friendship.  Rest in Peace Bobby George.   Training is just not the same without you.

Bobby and I weren’t teammates or good buddies.  but how I looked up to him.  He was the athlete I wanted to be, the person we should all try to be. I was fortunate that I spent an afternoon with him this past summer.  We laughed and smiled and talked about all of you!   I shared class reunion pictures with him  How he laughed at those pictures.   I work out every day with Coach Pete!    We talked about Bobby today!!!   Rest well my friend🤓

When I think of Bobby George I have many fond memories.  We were teammates for 6 years starting in 7th grade playing football, basketball and baseball each summer. I probably spent more time with him in practice than anyone.
One memory was as an 11 year old little leaguer, we pitched against each other at Eagles field. There was only one hit in the game and his team won 1-0. 
Another is when we played a three day American Legion tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. We ended up playing three games on the last day, losing the championship and having to ride a school bus all the way back to Jeff City that same night.  We were dirty (having the same uniform on all day), tired, and very hot.
Obviously playing in the same backfield with Bobby all through junior high and high school, I saw him in action for many years.
All I can say is that he was always the in control in sports and in life, the perfect gentleman.
I missed seeing him for all these years.

      Bobby and I were best friends in high school. We were teammates in the Jay football program under Coach Pete Adkins. Bobby was our quarterback. He was our leader. He was our inspiration. Though  humble to the core, Bobby had a quiet self-confidence in the huddle that made each of us KNOW that the play he called would be successful.
      So many Memories! Memories of football practices and games. Memories of hunting trips. Memories of fishing trips. On one such trip in 1969,  Bobby and I  carried  60-70 lb Navy sea bags over our shoulders  for four miles to a fishing lake in Colorado. We passed  a couple who were also going to camp at this lake. They had backpacks on their backs. We thought these things called "backpacks" were pretty cool.  That couple had to think, "what a bunch of Rookies".   
        All these memories are precious, and the sum of them leave no doubt that Bobby was  a "Man of Honor",  a "True Gentleman".

Bobby was my junior and senior high school classmate and football teammate for 6 wonderful years.  Earlier in the fall of 1962 Bobby was the 6th grade QB for East grade school and I was 6th grade QB for Thorpe Gordon grade school. I was first introduced to Bobby and his athletic ability when we competed against each other that fall.  A Bobby led East  juggernaut whipped us 21 - 0.  At this young age he was already honing his athletic and leadership skills.  For the next six years from the 1963  -  1968 football seasons we were Jays teammates on a "mission" led by his calm and determined demeanor.  He had the "right stuff" to QB and lead the Jays.  He was described by his peers as the perfect QB as he lead us by example with integrity. Never a negative word...   just positive energy.  Always calm and confident in the mist of adversity.  A winner!

In June 1963 he was chosen for "The Thorpe J. and Margie Irene Gordon Courtesy Award" on the basis of "politeness, friendliness, thoughtfulness and cheerfulness".  In 1964 the Simonsen Junior High School student paper, "The Hill Top Echo", said Bobby was "reliable" and "zealous".  In an August 1970 article in the Jefferson City News and Tribune Bobby was discribed as "Polite" and "Modest".  The Mid-Iowa Retriever Club recently posted on facebook... "Bobby was a 'True Gentleman" and a 'Great Friend' ".  Bobby was all these things and much more.  He simply was an extraordinary man.  He was respected and loved by all.

The picture listed has Bobby #14 faking a right sweep pitchout to Jim Painter #43 with Larry Britt #32 running pretend interference for Jim.  After the fake a determined Bobby would follow through with an left side off tackle trap for big yardage!

My memories of my relationship with Bobby start at East Elementary School.  Most memories revolve around flag football in the fall and track in the spring.  
Next was Simonsen Jr High.  This is where we were introduced to full contact football.  Bobby’s leadership ability’s were beginning to take shape at this stage for me and many other young players.
Next was JC Senior High and playing for Coach Adkins.  Even as an underclassman many could see Bobby’s abilities unfold and he became the leader we would follow for the next four years in high school.
Upon graduation many of us went on to play college football.  Bobby played at SMSU and I played at NWMSU.   Both schools were part of the MIAA conf. The next four years Bobby was the quarterback on the other side of the football while I was a linebacker for the opposing team.  We both played to win and when the game was over we  would meet to shake hands, reminisce  about the old days.
My condolences to Bobby’s family on their loss.

Bobby was one of my best friends through grade school at East School and high school at JC. Back when we were young we thought we were going to be the next best outdoors men. We trapped, fished and hunted every chance we got. When staying in Woolridge, MO. at his grandmothers house we would put out our trap line and one of our greatest memory was the 1st coyote we caught, as shown in this picture with Bobby, Johnny and myself. 
I feel a great loss knowing that you are gone and I will never be able to talk to you again.
My sympathy to the family.  

Bobby was a very dear friend and teammate- starting in the 5th grade at East School.  We were together basically year round for most of 8 years.  There are so many memories of our times together.  We were fortunate to have Bobby as our quarterback and guard on 
the basketball teams.  He led us to very successful seasons all the way through High School.  East School won the Little Olympics when we were 6th graders- and then Bobby won the All School Service award at East.   Bobby was my holder for extra points in football starting in the 6th grade.  I think we were the only Red Rag team to kick for the extra points.  Bobby played the trombone and Dennis Nichols played the saxophone at Simonsen.  They lugged their instruments in their cases to practice and home every day.
So many practices and games through the years.  Bobby was our leader -always quietly encouraging us and working hard to be the best he could be.  I called Bobby several times in the past 10 years or so and tried to get together with him.  He was always too busy working and training his hunting dogs.  We had some good talks.  It was a shame he wasn't able to attend the 50th year reunion of our Seniors football team with Coach Adkins.  He was in Field Trials.    We will miss Bobby.  Our thoughts and prayers go to Johnny and family in this time of loss.  Charlie

Bobby was the older brother of my best friend, Johnny so I spent an awful lot of time in my most influential years in their home and at ball games, fishing, skating etc...... My family had just moved to a new town as I was starting 5th grade, Johnny and I hit it off right away. I looked upon Bobby as a giant, a great athlete and carried himself with a caring and calm demeanor,  taught me to tie Fly Fishing lures and to love Merle Haggard, book smart too! Johnny and I still communicate once a year and the geographical distance is still the only thing that stands in our way. I knew of Bobby's love of dogs and his incredible training abilities through Johnny and my love of animals and volunteer work with rescues in Mexico I'm certain has a big smile on Bobby's face today. I'll miss you friend. Carry On! Here's a photo of 2 of my best dogs from many years ago, they are there for you to play with any ole time.
