Born March 31, 1938 in Marshall, Missouri, he previously resided in Tightwad Missouri. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, and friend to anyone he met. Born on March 31, 1938 to Clara and Marvin Davis. Billy had a great life courting the love of his life, Merlene for years through high school. They married on October 24, 1958 and started their lives together. Billy started working at Safeway during the early years. Then he became a Firefighter. He continued the job he loved for 35 years, he drove several Fire Chiefs through the years. He was very dedicated Firefighter and loved the colleagues he worked with creating a family bond. He was known as “The Dode” or "DoDo".
Billy was well known for his storytelling… boy could he tell stories. Sometimes you would hear them more than once LOL. He worked at odd jobs on his days off from the Fire Department, Rogers Conoco, Carthage Marble, and his own company “Hit and Get Construction”. He was always willing to help a friend whenever needed. Just call and he would be there. He looked forward to spending time with the guys, going hunting and fishing or just hanging out.
In 1997, Billy and Merlene moved down to Truman Lake, right outside of Tightwad, Missouri. He loved the peace and quiet of Sky Village where they resided. They opened their house and front porch to anyone who came by to visit. Their porch was a gathering place for Happy Hours. You could make yourself at home … fix a drink and sit down and catch up.
In 2017 he lost the love of his life Merlene, after being married for 59 years. He loved her more than anything til the day she left us. They are now back together and he is at peace.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Lisa Davis and son Mike Davis, his wife Billie, granddaughter Brittany Boudreaux and her husband Curtis, their children Shayla and Blakely, granddaughter Hannah Hecht and her husband Will, their kids, Colin, Emerson, Ashtyn, and Declan.
