Bill was born January 25, 1938, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri to the late Lee N. and Lillian (Bird) Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, E. Dean and Zelma Rhoads. Bill was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. He was a member of AMA, KC Speed Boats Association, Deer Creek Sportsman Club, Vendo Trap Shooting Team, the Fort Osage Mussel Loaders, Show-Me-Rods, and Midwest Region of Antique Automobiles. Danny was his hunting buddy and on their many trips to Knob Noster, they always had to stop at McDonalds and be sure they used a coupon. David was his auto and mechanic partner. He was they only crew member on David’s sprint car team. Bill attended East High School, retired from Honeywell and sure loved to eat.
I am not sure you can say Bill without saying Bonnie or Bonnie without saying Bill. Together since Bonnie was 14, Bill and Bonnie were rarely seen apart. They shared most of the same interest whether it was snow skiing, water skiing, time at their lake house, showing their cars, or attending car races, they were doing it together. Anyone that knows Bill and Bonnie knows their relationship became a lifeline for Bill, and one of the last things he said were words of appreciation of all she did for him every day. He loved her with all his heart.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie (Rhoads) Johnson; his 2 sons, Daniel (Stephanie) and David (Jessie); 6 grandchildren, Erik (Taylor), Alex, Paige, David, Chloe (Virgil) and Andrew; 3 great grandchildren, Evan, Caleb and Callie and many other family members and good friends. Bill was devoted to his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
