Bev was born on October 2, 1934, to Virginia L. Harmon in Warrensburg, MO. She had two younger siblings, James E. Harmon (deceased) and Linda J. Thomas. She graduated from Raytown High School in 1952. After high school she went to work at the Gas Service Company (Spire) for several years. In August of 1959 she married Joseph E. (Joe) Flavin. Into this union they had three children Mike, Tim, and Patty. Bev had her hands full with three busy children. When the kids were older, Bev decided she needed to go back to work, she soon opened her home to all the “Little People”. She felt as if she was that extra “Grandparent”. She never considered it work, just spreading her love and knowledge to prepare them for the next step. She loved each and every one of YOU!
Bev loved to read and watch Jayhawk basketball and the Royals. She was an amazing baker, her Sugar Cookies were always a request at family get-togethers. Every holiday we would hear, “This is the last time I’m doing these.” But she soon changed her mind, knowing we would be disappointed if they weren’t there. Bev also enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit her mother. She loved going to the beach and just enjoying the sunshine.
Bev was a member of Christ the King in Kansas City, MO.
She is preceded in death by her mother Virginia L. Harmon, and husband Joseph E. (Joe) Flavin (January 2023).
She is survived by her sister Linda J. (Robert) Thomas of Hanson KY, brother-in-law Daniel R. Flavin of Kansas City, MO, and sister-in-law Rose Harmon of Ft. Wayne, IN.
All of her number one’s:
Michael E. (Cathy) Flavin of Kansas City, MO, Timothy D. (Paula) of Kansas City, MO, and Patricia A. (Kent) Baker of Olathe, KS, grandchildren Matthew Griffin, Amanda Flavin, Casy (Jake) Lawson, Natalie Flavin (Isaac Ray), and Stephanie (Adam) Gillihan-Hursh; and great grands Harper, Logan, Olivia, Coulter, and Braxtyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that she dearly loved.
We would like to thank Kim Arnoldi for always being there for us and for Mom and Dad. We would also like to thank the staff in the 200 Neighborhood at Villa St. Francis; we always knew they were in good hands.
