Betty J. Van Wey

Betty Van Wey, 75, Kansas City, passed away Jan 14, 2017. Funeral Service is Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City. A visitation will precede the service from 5:00 – 7:00. Following cremation, Betty will rest in the arms of her loving family.

Betty was born June 17, 1941 in Lamar, MO to William and Jessie Miller. In the early 1950’s she moved to the Kansas City area, attending Northeast High School. In 1966, she married Kenneth Van Wey, whom she met over the CB radio. Together they raised two sons, Allen and Douglas.

Betty was a great housewife and mother. She also cared for more than 50 foster children. She was active as a Cub Scout Den Mother and loved to cook for her family. She also found time to excel as a licensed Insurance Agent.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Kenny; sons Allen Dale (Karen) Chaney and Douglas Mitchell Van Wey; granddaughter Amanda Marie (Quintin) Knight; and great-grandsons Quintin and Sylas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Liberty Health & Wellness or Heartland Hospice.
