Betty L (Short) Trotter, a retired school teacher, was born in Junction City, KS. on March 20, 1925, to Claude F. and Mertie Ware Short. She attended Stephens College, receiving her AA degree, one year at Univ of MO at Columbia and graduated Cum Laude with distinction from U of N Mexico. She received her M.A. from UMKC
She was married to James B Trotter in 1946, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
She was a certified Music and English teacher, and retired from consolidated school dist #2, Raytown MO. She then worked 11 years at the Jones Store. She was a Vice President of Neighborhood Council #20, Independence MO>, am member of Raytown American Assoc of University women, holding many offices.
She was a past member of Raytown Arts Council, and received an outstanding Service Award from the National Council of Teachers of English. She was a member of Sigma Alpha iota, National honorary music fraternity; Mortar Board, Phi Kappa phi, National honorary fraternity; Pi Lambda Theta, National Education Fraternity; Missouri Retired Teachers Assoc, and Raytown Retired Teachers Association. She was a Charter member of Blue River Church of Christ in Lee's Summit, MO.
She is survived by three sons. Dr. James B Trotter (Sandy), Jay M. Trotter RPh (Shelly), Lee Trotter RPh (Cherlyn), 15 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 14 great grand-children. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Frank and Mertie Short, son Dr. Mark Trotter, two daughters-in -Law, Kerry and Rhonda and one Grand daughter Laura Beth Trotter.
Interests: singing, reading, crocheting, and traveling, Along with her husband they had traveled to all 50 states and 17 foreign countries.
She Loved her Church and her family dearly, and did all she could to be a good Christian and Matriarch for her family
