Betty Ann Kelly

Betty Ann Kelly passed away July 25th, 2013 surrounded by family at Senior Care Nantucket Home in Overland Park, KS. She was 89 years old. Betty was preceded in death by her spouse Randall Kelly, her parents, and her brother Robert O’Neill. Betty (known to her grandchildren as “Nan”) is survived by daughters Jeanne Giroux, Karen Langworthy (David), Nancy Shuss (David), and Lynn Willnauer (Gary); sons Jim Kelly (Marilyn), Mike Kelly (Christine), and Chris Kelly (Mary); grandsons Mark Giroux, Mike Giroux (Nicole), Pete Giroux, Jim Langworthy, Brian Kelly (Emily), Mike Kelly, Scott Kelly, Jack Shuss, Ryan Kelly, Colin Kelly, Jack Willnauer, and Randy Willnauer; granddaughters Michelle Stephenson (John) , Ann Langworthy, Bridget Kelly, Kelly White (Derek), Julie Shuss, Jill Kelly, Diana Kelly, Laura Kelly, Courtney Kelly, and Kate Willnauer; great-grandchildren Charlie Stephenson, Will Stephenson, Braden Giroux and Lila Giroux. Betty was born April 1, 1924 in Kansas City, MO, to George and Marie O’Neill. After graduating from St. Aloysius Academy, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the College of St. Teresa. Betty married Randall Kelly on April 26, 1947 and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together residing in the Kansas City area. She loved raising and spending time with her children, grand and great-grandchildren. In addition to her family, her many interests included gardening, bridge, music, the Ladies of Charity, volunteering in the gift shop at St. Joseph Medical Center, and traveling the world with Randall during their retirement years. Her steadfast faith was a source of strength for her and an inspiration to her family. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor and friend.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Senior Care Homes for the exceptional care and kindness they provided Betty over the last year.

A Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m., followed by the visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., on Thursday, st 1st at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, August 2nd at 10 a.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lilabean Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research (lilabeanfoundation.com), St. Teresa’s Academy, or Cure of Ars Catholic Church.
