Betty L. (Peabody) Hart, age 95, of Leawood, KS passed away April 18th at the Sunrise Senior Living, Leawood, KS. Betty was born in Muscotah, KS, to George and Jenny Peabody. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 47 years, Lowren "Bud" Hart.
Betty grew up with 2 brothers and 6 sisters in Muscotah, Ks. At the young age of 18 she caught a bus to Washington DC, with her typewriter on her lap, for an interview that led to a secretarial position to a General at the Pentagon. With mad short hand skills and a mind for numbers, Betty returned to the Midwest and married Lowren Hart and continues to work with the government as an Accounting Supervisor for the Marine Corps Finance Center (MCFC) for 35 years. Betty loved to cook and care for her family and she also enjoyed weekends at the family cabin in Council Grove, Kansas. Later in life Betty joined Stanley Community Christian Church and would light the candles every Sunday on the pulpit. She was a passionate Christian raised in church and read through the Bible 13 times. Betty loved bingo and slot machines and her fun attitude towards life was a magnet and awarded her with great friends and a family well loved.
Betty Hart is survived by 5 children, Jerry (Darless) Hart of Grain Valley, MO, Jim (Aileen) Hill of Makawao, HI, Cindy (Michael) Spahalski of Crystal Beach, FL, Debbie (David) Van Noy of Kansas City, MO and Frank Hart of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sister Bonnie Anderson of Muscotah, KS and many other extended family members across the world.
