Betty Jean Dewey, 89, Independence, MO passed away June 15th, 2016. Visitation will be from 9-10am with services to follow at 10am on Monday, June 20th, 2016 at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64014. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Betty was a creative and gentle soul who cared deeply about everyone she encountered in her life. During her younger years she volunteered at the Nelson Art Gallery where she would share her love of art with others. Later in life she enjoyed spending time on her back deck with a cup of coffee while feeding the birds and gardening when she was able. Her love of playing cards earned her recognition as a Grand Life Master Bridge Player. She also was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward C. Dewey, daughter Constance Dewey Reed, and brother Dan Dickinson. She is survived by her son Thomas E. Dewey (Gloria), 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who loved and adored her dearly and she will be missed
