May 2, 1941 – March 12, 2010 Mom was born to Walter and Doris (Macke) Dosher in Evansville, Indiana and has three siblings – Norma (and Herman) Petitjean, Kathy Dosher, and Phil (and Becky) Dosher who still reside in that area. She graduated from Mater Dei High School in Evansville as a member of the Class of 1959. She later met and married Earl Derks of Clyde, MO and they moved to the Kansas City area. In 1962, their daughter, Ceci (Sis), was born and their son, Ted, came along in 1969. Mom worked for a few different companies during her adult life and retired from Internal Revenue Service at the end of February of last year. She really had a fun time on a cruise a few months before she retired, but the thing she loved most was spending time with family. She always cherished the time that she was able to spend with her best friends Kay and Maria and numerous road trips to the Evansville area to spend time with her sisters and brother and their families and the rest of her extended family there, including her Brother-In-Law, Frank Derks and his wife (her old high school friend), Jeannie and their family. She also enjoyed road trips to visit with her Sisters-In- Law, Pat Wells (Union Star, MO) and Althea Kern (Ravenwood, MO) and their families. Her family in the Kansas City area - in addition to her kids - consisted of her grandpets Tosh, Nic, Gracie, Maya, Henry, and Damian and many long-time friends all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and Earl and several other family members and friends. The family would like to thank all of those people involved in Mom's care these last few months. You have all been a blessing to us. We also ask that, in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to the breast cancer research fund of your choice in her name. Information will be available soon about a celebration of life for the family and friends in Evansville. Mom, we all love you and will miss you and look forward to seeing you again someday. A visitation and memorial service is planned starting at 6 pm, Thursday March 18 at McGilley and Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St, KCMO. "Don't cry for me because I am gone, smile and laugh with me for all the good times we had and the great memories we made together."
