Barbara (Barb) Ann Brown, age 83, lost her battle with Alzheimer’s and died peacefully in her home in Bucyrus, KS on October 3, 2022. While her bright light dimmed over the last few years as she battled Alzheimer’s, she remained a beacon of love for her family & friends.
Barb was born to Norbert & Cecile Witt in Muskegon, MI on June 8, 1939. She was a 1957 graduate of Friends School and later attended Centenary College. In July of 1959, she went to work for TWA as a flight attendant. She also worked as an admin in a doctor’s office and at a school.
Barbara Brown lived an exciting and full life… she loved to travel, and as a result lived all over the country. She was very active, loving to play tennis and golf, and excelled at showing horses that she owned throughout her life. She was an amazing photographer in a family of artists and worked with her beloved Australian Shepherds to master agility training and to serve as comfort dogs during visits to retirement homes and hospitals. Most importantly she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, sister, as well as her late husband Kenneth R. Brown (1939-2016) and her first husband, James Ryon (1935-2016). She is survived by her three children, Patty and Kevin King, Mike Ryon, and Karin and Jeff Lindmark; her grandchildren Julieanna and Ryan Yates, Micalah and Brian Thayer, Megan Lindmark, Daniel King, and Abby Lindmark; and great grandchildren Andrew, Eli, and Owen Yates, and Eden and Levi Thayer, as well as two stepchildren, Paula Joyce and Kenny Brown Jr., and their families.
There will be a visitation and brief ceremony of remembrance at McGilley State Line Chapel on Friday, October 7 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association.
