Audrey S. Klein

Audrey S. Klein, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2016. She was born on September 28, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Claude O. and Juanita Fagan Smith. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City and attended the University of Missouri where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

While in college, Audrey met the love of her life, Elmer W. Klein, and they married on April 14, 1951. After Elmer graduated from the University of Missouri in May 1951, they moved to Kansas City where they were blessed with two children, Bill and Ann.

Audrey was a gifted seamstress with a special talent for knitting and hooking rugs. She also loved playing bridge, going on vacation cruises with family and friends and had a special passion for dogs and birds. She began her career in Kansas City at Bendix, followed by Elastic Stop Nut, then Microtech Imaging and lastly retired as a sales associate for Dillard’s on Ward Parkway.

A beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Audrey is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Lafferty. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elmer, beloved dog Heidi; sister Claudia Jones and husband Jerry; son William M. Klein and wife Karen, daughter Ann Brasher and husband Eric; grandchildren Elizabeth, Emily and Jennifer Klein, Andrew, Michael and Morgan Brasher; and great-grandchildren Alma and Alex.

The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 13, at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, MO followed by visitation until 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, January 14, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9402 Mission Road, Leawood, KS, with Reverend Richard Storey officiating. The burial will be held at the Prince of Peace Mausoleum in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
