She was born to Eric & Lela Holmes in Emporia, KS March 14, 1938. Arlene lived in Madison, KS during her childhood with her two older brothers Paul & Glen. After graduating from Madison High School, she obtained her beautician license. She married Gaylon Jones, moved to Shawnee, KS and raise their two daughters Theresa (Killian) and Sherri (Jones). Arlene worked in Mission, KS as a beautician her entire career. She loved to visit with her friends and clients. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Arlene enjoyed crafts, charity work, being a room mother and a Blue Bird leader. Later she was a member of The Foxy Ladies & Garden Clubs. In 1980 she met her forever partner & husband, Charles T. Ashby. Tom and Arlene spent her last 42 years creating memories together. They lived in South Kansas City. Arlene loved her family dearly. She has two grandchildren: Brian Killian & Jamie Spencer. Her great grandchildren include Alana Killian, Harper & Isabella Spencer. Arlene also enjoyed time spent with her two son-in-law’s John Sanford and Richard Hauck along with Tyler Spencer. Becky Heffner provided loving in-home nursing care for Arlene the last year of her life.
Arlene’s sense of humor, laughter, warm heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
