Ann M Johnston

Ann M. Johnston, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13, 2011. Ann was born in Rossville , KS on October 11, 1917 to Michael and Katherine (Fuchs) Martel. She was one of thirteen children who grew up in St. Marys, KS.

Ann married Charles O. Johnston in August 1940 and they spent most of their married lives in the Kansas City area. They retired to their Pomme de Terre Lake home, then moved to Springfield, MO and eventually back to the Kansas City area. Ann gave generously of her time and effort to family and friends. Gardening was her passion and she tended her flowers with loving care.

She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Katherine Martel; 11 siblings - Michael, Felicitas, Michael Thomas, Alexander, John, Andrew, Marie, Agnes, Joseph, Leo and Eugene.

She is survived by Charles, her husband of 70 years; her sister - Catherine Seal; her 5 children – Charlotte Ceccoli and husband Bill, Sue Fitzgerald, James Johnston, Gary Johnston, Denise Johnston and husband Daniel Ryan; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM and Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19 at McGilley State Line Chapel. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO will immediately follow the Funeral Service.
