A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, with a Rosary Service at 9:30 AM, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Ave, Kansas City, MO 64117. Following services, she will be laid to rest privately in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville, MO.
Amy was born in North Kansas City, MO to George and Joyce (Hall) Stewart on May 11, 1963. She graduated from Park Hill High School with honors and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She worked for 30 years in Infectious Disease care and completed certifications in Oncology and HIV specialties. She was married in 1986 to John and welcomed her first child, Mary. The two remained close friends until his passing. She was blessed with second child, David, in 2000. Amy became a Grandma in 2017 and again this past August.
She belonged to St. Gabriel parish and was an active member of St. Elizabeth’s Circle for women. She was also a member of the St. Andrew Society with her father, celebrating their Scottish heritage. She spent countless hours at the Holy Family House and always found a way to serve others. She was a skilled bassoon player and had a love for music. Some of her favorite pastimes included bird watching, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Amy is preceded in death by her mother; and ex-husband, John. She is survived by her father; aunt, Linda; brother Ed (Mary); daughter, Mary (Bryan) Malcolm; son, David Stewart; nieces, Sydney and Shannon and two grandchildren, Brody and Vera Malcolm.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and friend.
