Alma Verser was born on April 19, 1948 in Dumas, Arkansas to the union of Caesar Sr and Salina Verser (both deceased). She was the 8th of 9 children. She graduated from Field’s High School in Arkansas and continued her education at Arkansas AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Alma gave her life to Christ at an early age and was committed to serving in various churches and ministries in both Arkansas and in Kansas City where she resided for many years. She served as a Sunday school teacher, served on finance committees and sang in the choir. She was a devoted member of Mount Washington Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Mother Board and served previously with Spirit of Truth and Greater St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo.
After 33 and a half years, Alma retired from her role as Chief Financial Officer at Rockhill Manor. During her tenure, she received various certifications in finance and accounting. She was often the family go to during tax season and would happily help family and friends with tax prep and filing.
Alma loved motown music, game shows, going to church and traveling. She also loved connecting with family and friends and would often pass time by calling people to talk.
Alma’s service and commitment to love and life shined brightly through the people that offered love, kind thoughts and stepped in to support when it was needed most.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Caesar Sr. and Salina Verser, and 7 siblings. Alma leaves to cherish her memory, two siblings, Caesar Verser Jr. (Sylvia) of KCMO and Elizabeth Mcelwee (Thomas) of Little Rock AR; her only son Jaylon Verser of KCMO; special nieces who walked with her through her journey; Dionne Verser Williams, Sheila Williams, Crystal Porter, Belinda Currie, Electa Verser, all of KCMO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
