She was born on March 7, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri. Aliere was the daughter of David Ray and Audley (Bateman) Witherup. She graduated from the University of Kansas majoring in Music. She participated in many musical organizations including performing at Carnegie Hall. She was very active in her church and volunteer service activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold K Allen. She is survived by her daughters: Linda McQuain and Judith Smith and her husband, Martin Smith, grandchildren: Krista Verdi, Kevin Smith, Meredith Brockman, Meghan Sankey, Meara McQuain, her greatgrandchildren: Jessica Smith, Sage Michel, Faith Brockman, Brynn Sankey, Matalin Smith, Asher Michel, Whitney Brockman, Alexander Verdi, Brielle Sankey, Dylan Verdi and Mesa Michel.
