Alice Marie Benson Newton passed away June 15, 2013. Visitation will be 12 – 1 p.m., Thursday, June 20 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Alice was born June 22, 1918 in Lawrence, KS. She was one of eight children of Arthur and Nellie Holcom. Alice was blessed with a great sense of humor and a love of reading. She was an avid sports fan, especially golf.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert W. Benson in 1958, and Patrick Newton in 2005. Alice is survived by her three sons, Robert W. Benson and wife, Marcia; Roger A. Benson and wife, Diane; and Joseph S. Benson; she will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren, Johanna Beilfuss, Anna Jones, Justina Borcherding, Shannon Smith, Lauren Fleischer and Mark Benson as well as her 13 great grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her three sisters, Doris Webster, Betty Chiddister and Ethel Gordon.
