Alfonso A. Estrada, 94, Kansas City, passed away June 21, 2016 at the VA Nursing Home in Cameron, MO. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 N Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO; burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday June 24 at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM.
Mr. Estrada was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Kansas City, KS. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gladstone. He worked 25 years for Armour’s Packing House Company. He also worked in maintenance at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 14 years. Alfonso is a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 with the 739th Coast Artillery Battalion in the Philippines. He was a member of American Legion Post 0609.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria G. Estrada, and son, Richard S. Estrada; brothers Roscoe Estrada, John Estrada, Paul Estrada and Joe Estrada.
Surviving siblings include Sally Luna of Rantoul, IL, Frank Estrada of Shawnee, KS; surviving sons Alfonso (Rachel) M. Estrada, Jr. of KC, MO, Gary (Phyllis) P. Estrada of Overland Park, KS and Manuel H. Estrada of Kansas City; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
