Al Herrera, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 6th, 10:00 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4101 East 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 5th, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., The Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 2220 Central Avenue, KCK, 66102.
Al was born July 12, 1924, in Kansas City, KS. He loved golfing and gardening. He was a decorated WWII U.S. Navy veteran. Al owned Stainless Steel Finishing Co. and was VP of Herrera Brothers Construction Co.
Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Manuel, Alfredo and Robert; and a sister, Ernestine. He leaves his wife Theresa of 66 years; son, Albert Herrera; daughters, Cindy Bobowski and husband Jim; Denise Urkevich and husband Gary; nine loving grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Louis and Ricardo; sisters Rachel, Beatrice, Rita, Olivia and Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
