Walter Roy Dougherty, 85, of Kansas City, KS, (recently Monett, MO,) passed away March 13, 2019. Mausoleum services will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
Walter was born February 14, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Leslie and Sylvia Dougherty. He was raised in Liberty and received his GED. Walter served two terms of service, first in the Army, and then the Navy. He worked several jobs, but retired as the water pollution control officer for Kansas City, Kansas. Walter enjoyed camping, fishing, working on his yard and growing roses. He was also a big fan of watching movies, especially Marvel movies, like the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Sylvia Dougherty; his brother, Lee Dougherty; two former wives, Barbara States and Cordella Dougherty; his stepchildren, Gene and Kelly; and two sons-in-law, Elmer and Jerry.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly O’Leary; his children, Steve Dougherty (Ann), and Kathy Wilson (Darrell); his stepchildren, Peggy Eagle, Linda Tarwater, and Vicky Mulholland (Steve); his daughter-in-law, Carol Cornwell; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
