Vircie Mae Thompson, 90, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home 701 North 94th Street Kansas City, Kansas. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
Vircie was born on February 8, 1921 in Keithville, Louisiana to John and Leola (Boyd) Thompson Sr. At a young age she united with Fairview United Methodist Church. She married Albert Scott in which the marriage was dissolved. In 1952 she moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she became a successful business woman owning three businesses. She attended St. John Baptist Church before failing health.
Vircie Mae Thompson entered into rest on August 7, 2011 at a North Kansas City Hospice facility. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leola Thompson Sr., brothers; William Thompson, AV Thompson, John Thompson Jr., and Ira L. Thompson, sisters; Amanda T. Coleman and Arner Drew and her husband Jim and sister-in-law; Jessie M. Thompson,
Survivors include two brothers; Cleveland Thompson and David Thompson of Shreveport Louisiana, sisters; Josie Sewell and her husband Reverend Sewell of Oakland, California and Carathers Barfield and her husband Horace of Shreveport, Louisiana sister-in-laws; Arlee Thompson and Lucille Thompson both of Shreveport, Louisiana, and a special niece; Orevia Thompson ~ Tatum and her husband Will of Kansas City, Kansas. She will also be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and long time friends. Arrangements: Under the direction of Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home.
