Viola Martha Colvin was born August 1, 1921 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Herman and Flora (Roscher) Nolte. She was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hinton, Oklahoma and confirmed in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Aliceville, Kansas. Viola married Ray E. Colvin on October 18, 1941. She was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a retired employee of Lifetouch Publishing Company.
Viola lived most of her life in the Kansas City area and passed away January 26, 2016 in Atwood, Kansas where she resided in the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society home.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Herman & Flora Nolte; brother, Melvin Nolte; sisters, Violet Hauser & Dorothy Duy & husband, Ray Colvin. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Roark & Wilma (Billie) Niermeier & husband, Rudy; sister-in-law, Mary Nolte; four grandchildren, Chad Niermeier & wife, Linda, Renea Studer & husband, Mark, Kelly Mueller, Shannon Spradling & husband, Steven; nine great-grandchildren, Blake & Sydney Studer, Bryce & Eastyn Niermeier, Jessica & Sadie Stevens, Kylie, Isabelle & Jack Spradling; and one great-great-grandchild, Jentri Anderson.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 30th from 1:00-2:00PM and funeral at 2:00PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations can be made to St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Outreach, 722 Reynolds Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66101 or Good Samaritan Society, 650 Lake Road, Atwood, Kansas 67730.
