Sia Her Lor’s father was Tongyeng Her, and her mother was Txos Yang. She was born in Namou, Xieng Khouang, Laos, on August 17, 1947. She has four siblings –Zoua, Mai, Kao, and Wangthao Her. Kao passed away in Laos in 2002. Mai is in Laos. And the rest are in the United States. Sia was born into a farming family. In addition, her father served the United States government during the Vietnam War. Both of her parents passed away several years ago.
Sia married Saoge Peter Lor on November 25, 1962. Together they had ten children: Dia, Dewid, Rahab, Daniel, Vamhmoo, Choua, Ger, Shoua, Eliya, and Mouasay. They had six boys and four girls. All of them are in the United States, along with Sia and Saoge.
As is said, “Behind every successful man is a strong woman.” Sia was a pillar for her husband.
Sia faithfully served her Lord by her husband’s side throughout her life. She was active and supportive of Lor’s ministry as a deacon from 1964 to 1980. In 1981, Lor graduated from theological training at Kongkien Bible Institute, Thailand, and was called to serve as Pastor for the Ban Vinai Congregation from 1981 to 1989. Lor also served another congregation in Chiang Kham, Thailand, from 1989 to 1995.
Besides serving in the ministry, her husband also served with the US Army in the Vietnam War. During this time, she was both a father and mother to her children. She worked hard in the field to provide meals for her children and the needy in her community. She took care of her children diligently, both physically and spiritually, as the Lord blessed her.
She had a very loving and kind heart. She loved her children, church members, and even the unbelievers who approached for help. She worked hard from morning till night. And she saved as much as she could to help the poor and those in need.
She devoted her daily life to the Lord. As she woke every morning, she praised her Lord, Jesus Christ. At lunchtime, she kneeled and asked the Lord to bless her children and church members. At night, she read the Bible with her husband and prayed for the family and those who serve in the ministry. Through her dedication to prayer and scripture reading, the Lord Jesus Christ has tremendously blessed the works of her children, both physically and spiritually — and by this, many worldwide are being saved in faith through Jesus Christ.
Sia’s faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ, who saved her. She believed in the forgiveness of her sins through the Word and Sacraments. The Lord chose her for eternal salvation from eternity to eternity. Amen.
