Dear George and Carol,
Only yesterday did I hear of Ruth passing..she was a dear friend and it is always sad to see another one out of your life.  However she left such wonderful memories.
She worshiped you both and this was well deserved, I remember how you drove up to bring her to your home for holidays, and made her last years happy and comfortable close to you. Nobody has been better son and daughter in law, She is at peace and I hope so are you. With my best regards, Lydia Hoff

My thoughts and prayers are with you .  I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother, Ruth.  I worked with her back in 1965 at NMU. She was a beautiful person inside and out.  We had so much fun working together. She use to call me pap. (short for Paulette Ann Phillips). She came to our wedding. I kept in touch with her every Christmas and was wondering what was going on with her as I had not heard from her for a few Christmases.  Our loss, heavens gain! God's Peace.

Dear George -- I was so very sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I was fortunate to work with your mother at NMU as I was in the President's Office and she in the Vice President's Office.  She was such a gracious lady and a wonderful entertainer.I will always cherish the many times that she hosted me at her home for dinner and/or coffee and dessert.  She was so proud of you. Mrs. Ruth Bishop is a legendary figure at Northern Michigan University because she cared so sincerely about others.  When I was a student she treated me with professional regard, as an alumnus she followed my career and the achievements of our children with followup notes and calls of congratulation.  Her spirit of service, kindness and friendliness is an inspiration to the thousands she influenced.

George,
I was so sorry to hear about the death of your mother.  I worked with her for two years at NMU and I valued her as a mentor and friend.  When she came to dinner at our house my young boys were quite excited to meet the woman their mother talked of so often.  I regret I am unable to attend the memorial service on Sunday due to a death in our extended family.

George and Carol, We wish to send our deepest sympathy with the passing of your mother. She was a sweet dear woman, and a joy for a neighbor. She took such great pride in her home and her backyard garden and coa pond. It always amazed me when she would be out picking up sticks out of the yard when I left for work (which was 5:30 a.m.) She was the best dressed lady in the neighborhood, and always in heels....A true lady. We have fond memories which we will treasure. She loved life, entertaining her friends and most of all her son. She will truly be missed.  Lance and Patti Larsson
