Ruth was born March 14, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ingolf Christian Craig and Ruth Ina Wick. She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri and was very proud of going back to college at Kansas City, Kansas Community College and Kansas University and getting her teaching degree after staying at home with her children. Ruth worked at Western Electric for a time before teaching in the Turner School District and Carver Christian Day School. She was a member of Haven Baptist Church and helped teach children’s Sunday school for many years as well as assisting in other activities. She took a missions trip to India and absolutely loved sharing God’s love with the world. Ruth was active in the community; she coached T-ball and softball, she was a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the PTA. She enjoyed reading and wildlife viewing and recently enjoyed keeping up with everyone on Facebook. Ruth loved horses, eagles and wolves and was very interested in American Indian culture. She had always dreamed of taking a trip to Norway and Sweden to see where her parents were from, though she didn’t get the chance. Ruth’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and other family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ingolf Christian Craig Wick; her mother, Ruth Ina Lanaya Carlson; and her brother, Norman Lee Wick.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Linda Denise Reid, and Karin Renea Castle and her husband, Curtis Russell Castle; her grandchildren, Krystin Rashelle Castle and Brandon Charles Reid; her special cousins, Sharon Kay Hernandez and her husband Leo, and Charles Vernon Townley and his wife Patti Jean; as well as many other family members and friends.
