Lee's Summit Hospital. She was 80 years old. Rosemary was born on February 28, 1941 in
Kansas City, KS to Stanley and LaVaun Leavendusky. Rosemary grew up in Kansas City, KS
and attended Washington High School. She also attended KCK Community College where she
obtained her Associates in Business Degree.
She married Darrell Sjoblom on June 17, 1961 and the two were married 43 years until his
death in 2004. Rosemary started her career with the Federal Government in 1971 in Fort
Leavenworth, KS . She served in various roles including Environment Specialist and finished
her career as the Chief of the DRMO in Junction City, KS. Along the way, she also worked in
Columbus, Ohio for a few years. One of her proudest accomplishments was being selected to
head a group of 12 to Molesworth RAF in England. She retired in 2001 and moved to the Lake
of the Ozarks where she lived for 10 years. She moved back to Kansas City, KS and enjoyed
retirement by volunteering at Providence Hospital in the gift shop. She attended St. Patrick's
Catholic Church and volunteered there as well. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and
went on multiple cruises.
Rosemary moved to John Knox Village in Lee's Summit, MO in 2016 to be closer to her family.
She volunteered and was President of the Sun Valley Neighbors. She delivered Christmas
cards to all of the Sun Valley neighbors and was known to send cards to everyone she knew for
any and all occasions. Rosemary enjoyed playing Bunco and scrapbooking (she received over
80 cards for her 80th birthday last year and put them all in a scrapbook). She also loved
watching Dancing with the Stars, Chiefs Football, Royals Baseball (favorite player - Whit
Merrifield) and she knew more about NASCAR than you could imagine. Her favorite Nascar
drivers were Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. Her favorite past-time was attending family events,
going out to eat, visiting with friends, and most of all playing with her great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Sjoblom, her parents, Stanley & LaVaun
Leavendusky and her brother, Stanley (Butch) Leavendusky. She is survived by her sister, Judy
Milleret-Rogers (Gary). Her children, Eric (Beth) Sjoblom, Angela (Mark) Newman, Darren
Sjoblom and her grandchildren; Brandon, Brett (Mollie), Christopher (Christi) Sjoblom and
Corey (Jordan), Chad (Morgan), Zach (Bethany) Newman. Great Grandchildren: Eric &
Emmelia Sjoblom (Chris & Christi), Mark & Luke Newman (Corey & Jordan) and Jack Newman
(Chad & Morgan).
A visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 on Wednesday, February 9th @St. Patrick’s Catholic
Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. There will be a Mass ceremony immediately
following the visitation with burial in Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens located next to the church.

that was her favorite.
