Rosalie Gomez, 87, of Kansas City, KS, went to Heaven on June 14, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK, with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Rosalie was born September 4, 1924 in Emporia, KS to Jesus Símon and Bartola (Moreno) Rodriguez. She grew up next door to her future husband, Louis P. Gomez, whom she married in November of 1942. Rosalie was an Army wife during World War II. They were active in their Emporia church; she was a wonderful cook and helped start and organized church socials. Rosalie and her family came to Kansas City for Louis’s job as a clerk for Santa Fe Railroad. However, they visited Emporia often due to their large and loving family in that area.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis P. Gomez in September of 1996, her siblings, Simon, Pedro, Lorenzo, Socorro, Cipriano and Manuela Rodriquez; children Richard, Ramona and Patricia Gomez; grandchildren Jeffrey Moburg, Bobby Gomez and Mark Ybarra.
She is survived by her children Louis Gomez, Elena Batrez, Dan Gomez and wife Carmen, Gloria Ybarra and husband Raymond, Martin Gomez and wife Paula, Michael Gomez, Rita Moburg, Veronica Braman and husband Randall as well as 28 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and all who knew and loved her.
