Ramona Ireland, 82, of KCK, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Monday, March 24th, funeral services will follow at 11:30 am at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Chapel Building Fund, 2614 S. 18th St., KC, KS.
Ramona was born August 27, 1931 in Thayer, West Virginia to Richard and Mattie Lou McCutcheon. She grew up in Fayetteville, West Virginia and graduated from Fayetteville HS. After living in Fayetteville for 25 years, Ramona moved to Cleveland and then Detroit for a short time and then settled in the KCK area. She married Marvin Ireland, who worked at GM, in 1972 and they owned their own business together for many years, she retired in 1996. Ramona was a member of Calvary Chapel. She was the daughter of a magician and she was sawed in half many times during her father’s show growing up. Ramona loved pizza, Sonic cheeseburgers and cherry limeades. She was a tap dancer and a people person.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mattie Lou McCutcheon, her husband, Marvin Ireland, her sister, Virginia Rust, her brothers Cecil and Fred McCutcheon and her nephew, Buddy Eades.
Ramona is survived by her daughter, Sharon Vestal (Pastor Herbie); her son, J.R. Johnson (Connie); three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; beloved four-legged friend, Sophie and a special friend, Wendie.
