Elwood “Phil” Phillips, 89, Basehor, Kansas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on November 12, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2018 also at the funeral home. Interment will be immediately following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Phil was born May 18, 1929 in Stanberry, MO. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he met his wife Sandy. Phil co-owned the Wyandotte Café with his brother, Speck until his retirement in 1994.
Phil is survived by his son, Randy (Tammy) Phillips; adopted son, James (Morna) Phillips; grandchildren: Randal, Jr. (Jennifer), Brad (Whitney), Julia (Collin), Trisha and Nicole; great grandchildren: Logan, Jude and Ethan.
Phil was a very loving and caring man who took great care of his family. He did pretty well for a farm boy from Missouri with an 8th grade education. A special thank you to his friends and neighbors who helped him throughout the years.
