Odis K. Dykes, Jr., 77, of Kansas City, KS, passed away October 4, 2021. A Celebration of Odis's Life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 6th at the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church, 425 West Morse Avenue, Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012.
Odis was born May 24, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Odis K. and Helen E. (Walters) Dykes. He left school in middle school and later went back and got his GED. Odis served in the Army from 1961-64 in Germany. He worked in the trucking industry as a driver throughout his career. Odis was a longtime member of the Teamster’s Union. He married Mary L. Hoover and after their divorce, he later married Peggi Anderton. Odis enjoyed spending time outside, fishing, gardening, playing golf or riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Helen Dykes; his wife, Peggi Dykes; and several of his siblings.
Odis is survived by his children, Robert Dykes (Emily), Ron Dykes, Alicia Sickman, and Debbie Mendez; his grandchildren, Ashton and Jade Sickman, Paul and Charlotte Dykes; his siblings, George Dykes, Virginia Dykes, Steve Dykes, and Toni Dykes; as well as other relatives and friends.
