Nancy Jean Schimoler, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed into eternal life on December 15, 2022. Nancy was born May 10, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Gregory and Emma Howard, the third of four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, Annette Howard, and her older brother, Robert Howard. She married Robert L Schimoler in St. Louis on September 7, 1968. Together they had three children, Rebecca O’Rourke of Thornton, Colorado, Susanne Schimoler Krieger of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Thomas Schimoler of Wheaton, Illinois.
She is survived by her younger sister, Genevieve Whitman of St. Louis, Missouri, her husband, her children, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Marymount College, Salina, Kansas, with a degree in elementary education; she taught preschool and second grade at Xavier Catholic School in Leavenworth. She loved to travel, was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed watching classic films. Most of all she loved her family. Nancy was a lifelong Catholic, a long-time parishioner at Immaculate Conception/St. Joseph parish in Leavenworth and was an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, preceded by visitation at the church starting at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
