Mary Elizabeth Scott, 67yrs old, passed suddenly at the hospital on Sept 24 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 1, 2021 starting at 10:00 am with a Rosary at 9:30 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1086 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
Mary was born on October 21, 1954 in Long Island, NY to James and Patricia (Flamez) Brough. She attended school in Kansas City Kansas at St. Patrick’s Catholic School. She loved to spend her time outdoors and in the garden. Mary was also a collector of Noah’s Arcs and Nativity Scenes that she would display proudly around her home. Hummingbirds also brought a great joy to Mary’s world. Mary also had a deep enjoyment for the sport of softball. Mary loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and her ‘greats’ as she would call them. She made a special connection with her grandchildren through the Harry Potter series. Mary would spend time talking about the series and going to movies with her grandchildren.
Mary was a member of the St. John Evangelist Church and her faith was a large part in her life. Mary would help plan and organize events like the Ice Cream Social at church. In her younger years, she spent time as a Campfire Girl. Mary was a spunky and giving person. She would care for those in need, even on a couple occasions becoming an in-home caregiver. Mary had always been a people-person and even became close to the members of her dialysis staff over the last few years. Mary was a kind-heart and generous person and was loved by so many. She touched many lives and she will be dearly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Jim Brough.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother Patricia Brough; siblings, Jim, John, Bill, Chuck, Patty, and Dorthy Brough. Her three daughters, Brenda, Carrie, and Anna “Kennedy”; ten grandchildren and her four ‘greats’; along with many dear friends.
