Mary Jo Clark “Jodie”, age 85, of Platte City, Missouri passed away on August 19, 2021. A visitation for Mary Jo will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am also at Chapel Hill-Butler. This service will also be available live on Chapel Hill-Butler’s Facebook Page. She was born on May 8, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri. Her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska then to Kansas City, Kansas when she was in high school. She graduated from Washington High School 1954. It was there she met the love of her life; Eugene Clark and they were married shortly after she graduated. They had their 66th wedding anniversary in June of this year. Mary Jo and Eugene lived in Kansas City, Kansas and in Germany for a while when Eugene served in the Army. With Eugene’s work, they moved and lived in Chicago, New Jersey, and California. After retirement, the couple moved back to Kansas City, Missouri.
Mary Jo was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid genealogist, a member of the “Daughters of Revolution”, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, National Society of Daughter of 1812, Society of Descendants of Henry Walcott and many other organizations.
She and her husband, along with dear friends, traveled all around the world. Mary Jo had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Newlon.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene W. Clark; three sons, Gregory Clark, Michael Clark (Connie), and David Clark of Excelsior Springs; a granddaughter, Elizabeth of California; and a brother Michael Newlon (Judy) of Kansas City, Missouri.
