Marilyn A. Johnson, 82, Edwardsville, Kansas passed away November 20, 2021. A graveside service for Marilyn will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, November 26, 2021 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Marilyn was born on March 24, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Bernard and Essie (Grimes) Franchett. She graduated from Ward High School. She was married to Chester Johnson on September 3, 1960 and together they had four children.
Marilyn worked in data entry all throughout her career at many different companies, including Parkview Drugs, Western Auto, ChoicePoint and retired from Yellow Freight in 1995. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Marilyn was well known for her love of sports. She was a huge fan of KU, Chiefs and the Royals and she didn’t miss a game when it came to March Madness! She also liked doing crosswords and piecing together puzzles. There were even a few nights that she would end up at a casino and play slot machines. Fall and winter were here favorite seasons and sitting outside watching the leaves change and snow fall was something she very much enjoyed doing with her beloved dog, Baby.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Chester in 1997; son, Brandon in 1982; and brother, Bernard Franchett.
Marilyn leaves behind three children, Brian (Heather) of Susanville, CA; Laurie of Edwardsville, KS; and Steve (Wendy Werthman) of Edwardsville, KS; six grandchildren, Derrick, Branden, Eric, Nicole, Cody and Logan; three great-grandchildren, Drake, Daiya and Tristian; sister, Janice Stevenson; and many other extended family and friends.
