Margaret “Margie” Mae Palmer Payne, age 75, passed away peacefully at Goshen Home Care on Friday, October 14th 2022 after battling chronic illness. Her funeral will be held at Colonial Presbyterian Church at 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 7:00pm.
“Margie” was born on December 18, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the youngest of four children born to John Charles and Mae (Gardner) Palmer. She faithfully attended church most of her adult life until she became unable to get out to attend in person. She was proud to be the first member of her family to earn a college degree (University of Kansas). She went on to earn a Master’s Degree also from Baker University. She retired from Baker University where she had worked for almost 15 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind, caring and helpful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She volunteered her time at the various churches that she was a member of and in the library at Ridgeview Village where she lived during her retirement years. She was a giver and supported many charitable causes locally and worldwide.
“Margie” was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Elaine Palmer and Louise “Kitty” Nelson, nephew Roger Allen Palmer, nephew Steven Rice, and niece Sharon Nelson Westfall.
She is survived by her daughters Stacy Watts and Heather Coelho, their spouses Chris Oxford and Sergio Coelho, her four precious grandchildren Keahnna Watts, Eli Watts, Kaylyn Oxford-Watts, and Gia Coelho and her brother Roger Palmer and his wife Carolyn as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
