Margaret Ann Fine, 84, of Olathe, passed away October 23, 2016. Visitation will be from 11:00 am-noon, with funeral services beginning at noon Saturday, October 29, 2016, all at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Margaret was born December 23, 1931 in Marion, Arkansas, to Henry W. Herberger and Anna B. (Gilbert) Herberger. After graduating from North Kansas City High School, Margaret continued her passion for sewing and worked as a tailor for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, and won numerous ribbons for her quilts at the Wyandotte County Fair. She later worked at Montgomery Ward's at Indian Springs in KCK, before retiring as the head cashier and bookkeeper.
Margaret and her husband Bob enjoyed 55 years of marriage. They loved traveling and were constantly venturing off to various destinations across the country and abroad. Never ones to remain still, they were active with the Hazel Nutcrackers square dance club for many years. Margaret also loved gardening, and took particular pride in her tomato plants and well-manicured strawberry patch.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert L. Fine; her step-daughter, Patricia L. Bates; and her brother, Billy W. Herberger. She is survived by her children, Gregory A. Barry, Cheryl O’Farrell (Hoot), and Robert L. Fine, II (Mary Alice Blew); her sister, Charlotte Wheeler; sister-in-law Patsie Herberger; and a complement of 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
